Bluegrass legends The String Cheese Incident has recently announced some HUGE news. The six piece is making a much anticipated return to Vail this summer, and you’re invited! They will be debuting at the stunning Gerald R Ford Amphitheater in style with two eagerly awaited shows! If you didn’t already know, The String Cheese Incident is a jam band hailing from Crested Butte and Telluride, Colorado. Formed in 1993, the group is composed of Michael Kang (acoustic/electric mandolin, electric guitar, and violin), Michael Travis (drums and percussion), Bill Nershi (acoustic guitar, lap steel guitar, and electric slide guitar), Kyle Hollingsworth (piano, organ, Rhodes, and accordion), Keith Moseley (bass guitar), and Jason Hann (auxiliary percussion). The String Cheese Incident is returning to Vail this summer!! They are taking their first Incidents in the Colorado mountain town. Seeing as they haven’t been to Vain in nearly two decades, you can imagine the hype! The sextet will make their Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater debut in style with a highly anticipated two-night stand at the idyllic venue on August 8 and 9.
While Vail was a regular stop for The String Cheese Incident in their early days, the group hasn’t been back since they threw a huge rager at Dobson Ice Arena back in March 2007. Gerald R. Ford Amphitheater, lovingly known as The Amp, opened in 1987 and comfortably hosts around 2,600 guests.
The String Cheese Incident has recently announced a new run of tour dates for May 2025. This marks their debut at a number of venues across the East Coast, Midwest, and Southern U.S. The trek will include stops at major venues like Greenfield Lake Amphitheater in Wilmington, North Carolina, where the group will perform two nights, as well as first-time stops at The Amp Ballantyne in Charlotte, North Carolina, Steelhouse Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska, The Factory STL in Chesterfield, Missouri, and Brown County Music Center in Nashville, Indiana.
Special guests The Wood Brothers will join the bill in Raleigh, Charlotte, and Huber Heights. The show will be a warm up for their July 18 appearance at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheatre with The String Cheese Incident.
The road trip will wrap up with a return to CaveJam in Pelham, Tennessee, where a special cave performance will bring the run to an underground-style finale.
